Analysis of estrone sulfate (APK #656)

Estrone sulfate is a plasma circulating hormone, considered as a depo of slowly-metabolized estrogen. Biologically inactive on estrogen receptors, estrone sulfate is transformed by steroid sulfatase to active estradiol. Estrone sulfate measurement can be used when estrogens levels are low and may not be measured accurately and as a potential marker in estrogen-associated malignancies.
