The relatively high carbon load of 22% for YMC-Pack Pro C18 RS and its smaller pore diameter amplifies the selectivity’s a­bility to discriminate between closely related compounds such as positional or steric isomers. YMC-Pack Pro C18 RS recognises even slight steric differences, even if the analytes differ only in their three-dimensional structure and not in their hydrophobicity or polarity. A more conventional carbon load (~15%) C18 chemistry is not able to use this property for separation.
