This sorbent is composed of Aluminum oxide. Alumina, like silica, is an extremely polar sorbent. Its surface tends to be slightly more stable under high pH conditions than unfunctionalized silica. It is available in acidic (A = 4 ± 0,5 pH), basic (B = 9,5 ± 0,5 pH) and neutral (N = 7 ± 0,5 pH) formats.

Pretreated sample

Wash

1 mL 5 % Dichloromethane in Hexane

Elute

1 mL Hexane / Dichloromethane (1 : 1) or Hexane / Isopropyl alcohol (1 : 1)

Recommended applications:

High extraction efficiency and better high pH stability than unfunctionalized silica makes Alumina great for extraction of polar compounds from food and environmental samples, such as PCB and pesticides.
